Centenary Bank is the leading microfinance bank in Uganda; its operations started in 1985 with two reasons: serving the rural poor and making a meaningful contribution to the socio-economic development of Uganda. Today, Centenary Bank has the largest number of customers and branches in the country and a strong focus to reach the underserved population in rural areas.

The bank puts great emphasize on financial literacy and education (including savings), and has started a digital transformation to increase its outreach, in particular through agency banking and mobile banking apps, which, for example, allow people to pay school fees or utility bills.
