We believe that money can change the world for the better. In fact, our organisation was founded on this belief. Our mission is to create a society that protects and promotes the quality of life of all its members with human dignity at its core.

To create lasting impact, we must also ‘change finance’. We strive for a sustainable, transparent and diverse financial sector that makes money work for positive change. We collaborate at a practical and strategic level with other European and global stakeholders, such as other values-based financial institutions, non-governmental organisations, governments and banking associations and initiatives, to help grow a movement to change the financial system.

How you will make a difference

As an Advocacy Manager you will manage a variety of activities that are related to what we call our ‘change finance agenda’, which includes advocating for effective (sustainable) financial regulation in the EU, campaigning for (inter)national policy reforms relating to Triodos’ five transition themes, such as a Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty, and influencing sustainability developments within the global financial sector.

The job entails tracking developments on sustainable finance, draft positions on relevant topics, and lead projects related to our advocacy activities. In this role it is important to establish strong work relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with the positions, ad hoc (public policy) interventions and collaborations. Not to forget, you are able to engage with relevant stakeholders – and perhaps even the whole organisation – on the importance of our advocacy work.

You are proactive and able to find your way in a large organisation. Combined with your substantive knowledge and developed communication skills you can persuade and engage people for the good cause.

To be successful in this role, you are:

  • Strongly connected to the mission and values of Triodos and able to translate this in your daily tasks and in our positions.
  • Well organised and able to understand and keep overview of Triodos’ different positions, while operating in and responding to a dynamic public context.
  • A natural networker and connector within an international and multi-disciplinary context. You engage easily with people and get them into action.
  • Able to see where Triodos Bank can make a difference within the public debate and draft (quick) responses to political decisions and social developments.

Furthermore, it is expected that you have:

  • previous experience in the financial sector, public affairs, advocacy and/or campaigning in an international or European context.
  • an interest in the financial system and an understanding of (sustainable) finance regulation, system thinking and/or one of our five transition themes.
  • Extensive experience with leading projects, collaborating in different coalitions, advocating for different subjects and representing an organisation.
  • good command of the Dutch and English language; other languages can be an advantage.
